The only grave with a simple cross stands out on the graveyard of Egmond binnen - next to such heavy names as "van der Vloed-Goldschmieding" or "Veltkamp-Boersen" - and - asks for attention. Why did Piet only get a simple cross? Who was he? Nobody could tell us.....Meanwhile globalisation has reached funerals. A friend just went to the cremation of his Buddhist master in Australia - flying from Europe for a stay of two days only. And the ashes will travel as well - to Vietnam, where the family of the deceased wants to get it strewn into a river.
And my friend will watch.... after another flight from Europe.
